When Laura and Tim Boundy's two-year-old son, Wilf, was rushed into hospital in November, they stayed at his bedside for days as he was put into an induced coma and fought an infection that affected his brain. Finding food to keep them going was almost impossible when they were at the hospital, so Wilf's grandmother, Jane, who had used Nourish Drinks herself, ordered a selection for her daughter and son-in-law.
'It was terrible when Wilf fell ill. He was rushed into intensive care and so, so poorly,' recalls his grandmother, Jane Purslow. 'He was put into an induced coma and was put on to a ventilator. Even now, the doctors aren't sure what was wrong. Their best guess is that he had an overwhelming infection that affected his brain.'
Staying at his hospital bedside, Wilf's parents struggled to find food to keep them going. 'There just weren't the facilities for my daughter Laura and son-in-law Tim to be able to eat properly, which just seems shocking,' Jane says.
She had previously bought Nourish Drinks for herself, and suddenly realised they might be the answer.
'I ordered 12 Nourish Drinks to be delivered to them, so they wouldn't have to live off chocolate bars and Cornish pasties from the shop at the hospital,' says Jane. 'It made such a huge difference to them, as they had the nourishment to help them be there for Wilf. They both loved the flavours and how easy they were to sip when they needed a boost. Tim commented on how satisfying they were as a meal replacement.'

Fortunately, Wilf is now fully recovered and the family is looking forward to spending Christmas together.
'In those first few days when they came home from the hospital, Laura continued to use the drinks – she would sip them as she and Wilf cuddled up on the sofa,' says Jane. 'She still needed the energy and nourishment they gave. I'm so grateful Nourish Drinks supported her at that difficult time.'
