Remembering my dad

dementia

It is with huge sorrow that I am sharing the passing this weekend of my wonderful father, Brian. As many of you know, Dad had been living with fronto temporal lobe dementia for the past few years. A former science teacher with a love of music, he inspired my passion for both.

Dad's wonderful, nurturing support helped me through illness as a teenager and young woman, gave me the courage to start my clinical practice as a dietitian, and ultimately inspired the launch of my business, Nourish by Jane Clarke.
It's for people like my dad, with health conditions that make eating and nourishment such a challenge, for whom I created Nourish Drinks.

It was one of my proudest achievements, and most heartbreaking experiences, that at the end, when dementia had almost completely robbed Dad's ability to swallow, that he could still manage a few sips of the drinks created with him in mind.

Dad's favourite song was Bring Me Sunshine. He will always be the man who brought light and life to my heart.
