It’s an honour to introduce you to our Nourish Medical Advisory Panel. These hugely esteemed and experienced professionals have dedicated their careers to the service and care of others, in the fields of medicine, nursing and psychiatry. They have seen all too often the devastating effect of undernourishment for the people they have treated and looked after, and how little has been provided to solve this crisis.

Our Chairman, Sir Stephen Moss, cared for a close friend at the end of his life and witnessed the benefits of Nourish Drinks they brought at this time of need.
We thank each member of our panel for bringing their passion, insight, knowledge and connections to help our Nourish Drinks reach those who need it most. As they know more than most, every mouthful counts, every person matters.
Chairman, Sir Stephen Moss
Stephen is a nurse by background and has spent his entire career in the NHS. Following a number of years in clinical practice, he moved into a variety of nursing and general management roles, including Chief Nurse, Chief Executive, Non-Executive Director and Chairman. In 1999 Stephen was appointed as a Commissioner on the initial NHS Quality regulator, the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI). In 2009, he was asked to undertake the role of Chairman at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust following a highly critical report from the Healthcare Commission.
Stephen was Chairman (until 2014) of the Department of Health Human Factors Reference Group which recommended ways to embed Human Factors Science into healthcare practice, education and regulation. He received a knighthood in 2006 for services to the NHS and Healthcare, and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from the University of Nottingham and the University of Derby.
Professor Lisa Bayliss-Pratt
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Coventry University; Programme Director for the Nursing Now Nightingale Challenge; Non-executive Director, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust
Lisa has worked in healthcare in both the private and public spheres and in higher education for over 20 years. As Chief Nurse at Health Education England (HEE), Lisa transformed nursing and midwifery education and training. She was also Senior Responsible Officer for HEE's national mental health and learning disability and autism programmes.
As Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Coventry University, Lisa has led the development of a university-wide health and wellbeing strategy. She is also a non-executive director at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, which provides mental health, learning disability and community physical health services for people of all ages in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Cara Charles-Barks
Chief Executive, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust
Cara has huge experience in the strategy and management of healthcare in roles at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust and Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals Foundation Trust. She was previously Nursing Director at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia and is Honorary Colonel, 243 Field Hospital Army Reserve Medical Services. She followed her Bachelors and Masters' Degrees in Nursing with a Graduate Certificate of Health Service Management and an MBA from the University of Adelaide.
Professor Michael Craig
Consultant psychiatrist, Maudsley and Royal Bethlem Hospitals
After graduating with an honours degree in Psychology from Bristol University, and subsequent training in various types of psychotherapy, Michael studied for a second degree in General Medicine and Surgery. Following this, he completed specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry on the Maudsley training programme.
Today, Michael is a psychiatrist at the Maudsley and Royal Bethlem Hospitals, where he is appointed as a Consultant within the National Services Directorate, which treats people with particularly complex mental health problems. He also teaches general psychiatry to medical students and specialist trainees at Kings College Medical School and the Maudsley Hospital.
Aleksandra Filipovic MD, PhD
Head of oncology at PureTech
Aleksandra served as associate medical director of Bristol Myers Squibb (New York) for early phase oncology and immuno-oncology clinical trials. She graduated from medical school at the Faculty of Medicine University of Nis, Serbia, and completed her PhD on the identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets in breast cancer and monoclonal antibody drug development at Imperial College in London. Following this, she received a Fellowship from the College for the continuation of the translational research work and continued clinical practice in medical oncology.
Aleksandra is also a practising clinician at Imperial College NHS trust, faculty member at European School of Oncology (ESO) and College of the European School of Oncology (ESCO), scientific committee member of Sharing Progress in Cancer Care (SPCC), associate editor for Frontiers in Oncology, and a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).
Professor Dame Elizabeth Fradd DBE. DL
The focus of Elizabeth’s working life and abiding passion is the continuous improvement of Healthcare. She was awarded the DBE for services to Nursing and Healthcare in 2009. She was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing in 2004, and also holds Honorary Fellowships with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the Queens Nursing Institute, the Faculty of Public Health and Institute of Health Visiting.
Elizabeth has worked in many roles, including Nurse Director and lead Director for the Review and Inspection programme in the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI) now the Care Quality Commission (CQC). She has been commissioned to conduct investigations, governance reviews, coaching and mentoring, and teaches MSc nursing students at Nottingham University. She is a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse, General Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor. She has published widely and spoken on many occasions at both national and international conferences.
Doctor Julian John Oram MB FRCP
Now retired, Julian trained at Guys Hospital and was Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine at St George’s Hospital for 24 years, where he was also a postgraduate and college tutor. Julian established private practices at Parkside, Lister, Cromwell and King Edward VII Hospitals, specialising in dementia, falls and confusion. He is also author of Caring for the Fourth Age.
Dr Martin Scurr MRCS MB BS FRCGP FRCP
Continuity of care, along with the promotion and teaching of medical ethics and the treatment of the terminally ill, have been the cornerstones of Martin’s career. He was recruited to the Trustees of the Hospital of St John & Elizabeth where he was the founding Medical Director of the hospice unit, now St John’s Hospice.
Martin was educated at Stonyhurst College, UCL and Westminster Medical School, graduating with Honours in Surgery in 1973. Following some years in the NHS and then vocational training for general practice, he formed a private practice in West London. As appointed Physician at Westminster Cathedral, he had commitments to the healthcare of the religious community, the pupils at the Choir School, and latterly the Jesuits at Farm Street.
